Description of the Project
Integrated in the global waste management scheme as required by a large urban area, Amétyst enables the reduction of waste treated with Energy from Waste or landfilled. The facility is implementing the technologies developed by VINCI Environnement giving priority to recycling, energy recovery and compost production from the waste. The pre-composting is performed in 3 BRS®. The waste are then processed by the anaerobic digestion unit consisting in 4 double digesters of the KOMPOGAS® design, i.e. 8 x 1,400 m3 (3 for the organic fraction of the mechanically sorted Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and 1 for kitchen waste).
Annual treatment capacity : 203,000 tpa (170,000 tons of MSW, 33,000 tons of kitchen waste)
Production :
24,000 tpa of compost from MSW, used in agriculture and landscaping
4,000 tpa of compost from kitchen waste, used as a natural soil fertiliser
14,400 000 m3 of biogas per annum, converted into electricity and heat, i.e. 30,000 MWh per annum of electricity
